At the start of the month we were able to get our mitts on the slick new LG V40 ThinQ smartphone and put it through its paces; we found the smartphone to be a good device and recommended it with one of the biggest downsides being its $949 price tag. If you read that review and liked what you saw but were hesitant about the price, B&H has a deal that you might not want to pass up.
B&H has a preorder special for the V40 ThinQ 64GB smartphone that offers $200 in instant savings. That means rather than shelling out $949.99, the smartphone will cost you $749.99 making it much more palatable. To sweeten the deal even further, B&H is also throwing in a second-year warranty (the LG Second Year Promise Program) and a free SanDisk Ultra 256GB MicroSDXC memory card via mail-in rebate. The free memory card and warranty end on November 2; it's not clear when the instant $200 savings will end.
The smartphone is the Aurora Black version (if you want blue you are out of luck) and it is carrier unlocked; it supports AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon. If you aren’t familiar with this smartphone, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and a 6.4-inch QuadHD+ OLED screen with native resolution of 3120 x 1440 and 536.92
The rear trio of cameras includes a 12MP standard offering with optical image stabilization and dual phase detection autofocus, the second camera is a 16MP wide-angle unit, and the third is a 12MP shooter with 2x optical zoom. On the front, the V40 ThinQ has an 8MP standard camera and a 5MP wide-angle unit. Power is from a 3,300 mAh internal battery supporting fast wireless charging and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. The operating system is Android Oreo 8.1, and the smartphone is IP68 rated for water and dust resistance; it also has a fingerprint scanner on the back and supports face recognition. B&H lists a ship date for the preorder of October 23; the free memory card will ship within 28-days of redemption validation and will deliver within 3-5 business days once shipped.
