Intel 9th Gen Core Coffee Lake S Processors Up To Core i5-9600K Confirmed For Z390 Launch

Intel CPU
It appears that Intel has today given us the first confirmation of upcoming 9th generation Core processors. While it was previously assumed that Intel's 9th generation Core family would be built using 10nm process technology (which has seen numerous delays), it appears that the first parts will be part of a Coffee Lake Refresh.

New 9th generation processors were found within an Intel PDF that provides Microcode Update Guidance for its processors. Lumped in with the 8th generation Coffee Lake S processors were the following:

  • Core i3-9000
  • Core i3-9100
  • Core i5-9400
  • Core i5-9400T
  • Core i5-9500
  • Core i5-9600
  • Core i5-9600K

The Core i3 processors have quad cores with GT2 graphics, while all of the Core i5 processors features six physical cores with GT2 graphics. These processors are all closely related to existing Coffee Lake architecture, but at this point, it's unclear what exact features will distinguish the 9th generation from the 8th generation.

Although not mentioned in the official Intel document, it's also reported that Intel will be releasing a Core i7-9700K (6 cores/12 threads) and a Core i9-9900K (8 cores/16 threads).

These news 9th generation processors are supposed to launch alongside Intel's upcoming Z390 chipset. According to a recent rumor, the Z390 may or may not simply be a rebrand of the existing Z370 chipset. If Intel doesn't go the rebrand route, the Z390 will bring with it native 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.
