ICS on the Cheap: Coby Begins Releasing Low-Cost Tablets
These tablets are definitely what you would consider inexpensive, with the MID7042 coming in $179 and the MID9742 costing $279. The MID7042 is a 7-inch tablet (800x480), while the MID9742 boasts 9.7 inches (1024 x 768) of screen real estate. Both devices run on Cortex A8 chips, have 1GB of RAM, 8GB of built-in storage with expandability up to 32GB, and are WiFi-only (b/g/n). They also have a USB 2.0 port, mini-HDMI out, built-in microphone and speaker, headphone jack, and a 3MP camera.

Most importantly, the two tablets and the quartet of impending successors all run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box.
MID9042
There’s plenty of competition in the 7-inch tablet space close to that $179 price point, and although most larger tablets come in higher than $279, Coby may have some proving to do before many consumers see the value here.
