Hewlett-Packard is taking its premium PC lineup to the next level with the introduction of the new Spectre 13 and Spectre x360 13. Both notebooks feature premium materials including a CNC machine aluminum body, available 4K displays and 8th generation Intel Core processors.

Starting with the Spectre 13, HP says that this is the world's thinnest touch notebook, and features a 13.3-inch display with micro-edge bezels that is covered in Gorilla Glass for added strength and durability. That display comes standard in Full HD resolution, but if you have the extra cash, we'd recommend upgrading to the 4K option.

On the hardware front, buyers can choose from 8th generation Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors and PCIe SSDs up to 1TB in size. Up to 16GB of LPDDR3 memory can be configured to handle you multitasking needs. As for runtimes, the integrated battery is rated to last up to 11.5 hours, which should be more than enough to get you through the workday. The notebook even supports HP Fast Charge technology, which takes the battery from a 0 percent charge to 50 percent in just 30 minutes.

When it comes to connectivity, all of the usual suspects are here including 2x2 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and USB-C/Thunderbolt 3. You'll also find dual Band & Olufsen speakers, HP TrueVision HD IR webcam and a full-size, island-style backlit keyboard.

The Spectre x360 13 largely mirrors the display, processor, memory, storage and connectivity options of the Spectre 13, but features a convertible form-factor. Its 13.3-inch display is attached to a 360-degree hinge which can be used in notebook or tablet modes (or anything in between). The Spectre x360 13 comes with a Windows Ink Certified pen for writing and drawing -- the pen even incorporates an integrated battery and USB-C connector, with a 15-second charge giving up to 200 minutes of use. The integrated battery on the Spectre x360 13 is good for up to 16.5 hours of runtime and a fingerprint reader is included for added security.
