Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 Gaming Box Breaks Cover For Mobile Gaming Muscle

The GeForce RTX 2070 Aorus Gaming Box is presumed to be using the TU106-400 (non-A) SKU which is the lower-binned RTX 2070 variant found in the Gigabyte RTX 2070 Mini ITX 8G. This does not preclude overclocking, but does indicate factory clocks out of the box - 1410 MHz base and 1620 MHz boost. It will be flanked by 8GB of GDDR6 memory with a bandwidth of 448 GB/s.
On the interface front, the dock ties into your notebook with Thunderbolt 3 Type-C with support for up to 4 lanes of PCI-e. Buyers will want to ensure their notebook also supports 4 PCI-e lanes to maximize performance, but even a 2 lane configuration will provide a significant uplift over integrated graphics. It also provides 4 USB-A ports for peripherals along with 3x DisplayPort, 1x HDMI 2.0, and USB-C on the graphics card itself.
While the GeForce RTX 2070 is built into the dock, the card should be swappable as in prior Gaming Box models. Keep in mind the replacement GPU would need to fit the confined form-factor and 175W TDP limit. Still, this could make the GeForce RTX 2070 Aorus Gaming Box an attractive option for a first-time eGPU buyer with desktop-like flexibility to upgrade down the road.
No pricing or availability has been released for the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 Aorus Gaming Box yet.
