Galaxy S9 And S9 Plus Tipped To Keep Venerable 3.5mm Headphone Port

If you are a Samsung fan and are looking forward to more details on the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus that are expected early next year, a new leak has given up some additional information on the devices. According to this leak, the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus smartphones will continue to have a 3.5mm headphone port integrated. The details were tipped in a leaked image seen here that claims to show a 3.5mm port on a module for the smartphones.

The headphone port can be seen on the bottom right portion of the module. This is good news for audio fans with headphones they love who don’t want to have to use an adapter of some sort to connect to their smartphones. Rumors have also predicted that the S9 device will have IP68 certifications for resisting dust and water.

These leaked USB Type-C flex cables in the image are specifically believed to be for a Galaxy S9 Plus because of the SM-G965F model number printed on them. The "F" designator would further suggest that the parts in the image are aimed at the international single SIM card version of the device.

However, all versions of the S9 and S9 Plus are expected to have a 3.5mm headphone port. If these photos are legitimate, it would seem that Samsung plans to continue being one of the few high-end device makers to hold onto the 3.5mm audio port. Other rumored hardware for the S9 line of devices include 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Infinity Display panels.

The base storage for the devices will be 64GB and a single lens camera is tipped for the S9. The S9 Plus is rumored for dual rear cameras, 6GB of RAM, 512GB of storage space in the top-end model. The announcement is rumored for late February with a launch in March. The Galaxy S9 was spied on Geekbench almost a week ago packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset.
