EVGA’s SC17 Gaming Notebook Rocks GeForce GTX 1080 And 4K G-SYNC Display Goodness
EVGA is well known in the enthusiast community for its motherboards, video cards, power supplies and countless other PC peripherals (among other things). The hardware company just announced its upgraded SC17 1080 G-SYNC Gaming Laptop (which is quite a mouthful), but we’ll just call it the SC17 for brevity’s sake.
As its name implies, the SC17 features a big, gorgeous 17.3-inch 4K NVIDIA G-SYNC panel, which is much appreciated in this class of gaming notebooks. We’ve been seeing 17-inch notebooks “saddled” with 1080p displays for far too long, so it’s nice to see that EVGA has equipped this notebook with a resolution worthy of the gaming muscle lurking within.
Powering the notebook is a burly Kaby Lake-based Intel Core i7-7820HK processor, which is backed by an equally potent GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card. Given that the processor is unlocked, you’ll be able to overclock to your heart’s content with the EVGA Precision X Mobile software. Overclocking controls also extend to the memory and the GPU.
Other hardware features include a 256GB NVMe SSD, 1TB 7200RPM Seagate SATA HHD, 32GB DDR4-2666 memory, Intel GbE, Intel AC-8265 Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI 2.0b and dual mDP 1.4 ports.
Despite all of this gaming power at your fingertips, EVGA boasts that the SC17 measures just 1.3 inches at its thickest point, which is impressive for such a large notebook. However, you won’t be able to escape its considerable heft, as it weighs in at 8.93 pounds.
The SC17 1080 G-SYNC Gaming Laptop is available to purchase right now for $2,999, and all purchases will come with a free X10 gaming mouse and a free EVGA backpack to haul all of your gear.
