Inside The 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Beats A Demonic 797hp Heart

Dodge is really into muscle cars and it's a wonderful thing. The SRT Demon is out of production now with the last one rolling off the assembly line early this month and the burly 9.65-second quarter mile runner will be missed. But don’t fret, Dodge has something new for you in the form of a hotter Hellcat.

Dodge packs 707hp into the normal Hellcat and for 2019 the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye channels a bit of the Demon and ups its game with a revised supercharged Hemi engine. Dodge says that the Redeye uses its most powerful V8 engine with 797hp and 707 lb-ft of torque. With the Demon gone, the Redeye is now the quickest production muscle car with a 0-60mph time of 3.4 seconds.

This beast can’t run with the Demon on the drag strip, but everyone else had better watch out. Redeye drivers can fly down the 1/4 mile in 10.8-seconds at 131 mph and can move onto a top speed of 203 mph. If the Redeye isn’t for you, the more plebian Hellcat returns for 2019 and it packs a bit more under the hood. Hellcat now has 717hp and 656 lb-ft of torque, up from last year's 707hp. The dual-snorkel hood is offered on all Hellcat models and is a homage to the 1970 Dart Swinger and 1971 Demon.

Dodge has also unveiled the Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody that has the same fender flares from the SRT Hellcat Widebody making the car 3.5-inches wider overall. That car has 305/35ZR20 Pirelli tire on 20 x 11-inch forged "Devil's Rim" aluminum wheels. All Scat Pack models get a power-bulge aluminum hood with heat extractors that were previously on the SRT Hellcat. Challenger R/T and GT RWD models now get a standard high-performance suspension.
