Dell has just pulled the wraps off its thinnest Alienware laptop to date: the Alienware m15. Despite its mission to make the Alienware m15 as thin and light as possible, there were no compromises made with respect to performance by Dell's renegade gaming products division.

The notebook measures just 0.83 inches thick and weighs in at a relatively lightweight (for a gaming notebook) 4.78 pounds. In keeping with its model number designation, the Alienware m15 is adorned with a 15.6-inch display that can be had with Full HD (60Hz or 144Hz) or UHD 4K resolution (60Hz) panels. Those displays are backed by one of two GPU options: an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with 6GB of GDDR5 or a GeForce GTX 1070 Max-Q with 8GB GDDR5.

At the heart of the machine beats Intel's 8th generation Core i7-8750H processor, which is a hexa-core unit that can Turbo Boost up to 4.1GHz. Base configurations come with 8GB of DDR4-2666 memory, but you can option the system all the way up to 32GB (via two SO-DIMM slots).

With respect to the storage subsystem, there are a plethora of options, including single-drive configurations with a 1TB+8GB SSD Hybrid drive or a single 256GB SATA M.2 SSD. If you opt for a dual-storage arrangement, you can choose from any number of PCIe M.2 SSD + Hybrid Drive configurations, Optane SSDs or even a top-ranging setup with dual 1TB PCIe M.2 SSDs.

Keeping all of this hardware cool is Alienware's Cryo-Tech v2.0 thermal system which features a dual-intake, dual-exhaust airflow design, a high-voltage driving fan (with 90 fan blades cooling the CPU and GPU), load balancing heat pipes across the GPU and CPU, and copper fin stacks.

When it comes to connectivity, you'll find a Killer Networks e2500 GbE port, two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port with PowerShare, one Thunderbolt 3 port, one Alienware Graphics Amplifier port, HDMI 2.0, and mini-DisplayPort 1.3. When it comes to Wi-Fi, the standard configuration includes a Dell 802.11ac 2x2 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth 4.0 combo card, while the optional configuration features a Killer Wireless 1550 2x2 AC/Bluetooth 5.0 combo card.

Finally, the Alienware m15 comes standard with a 60 Whr battery, but you can upgrade to a longer-running 90 Whr unit if you need the extra juice. According to Dell, that latter battery is good for up to 17 hours of runtime.

The Alienware m15 will be available with a starting price of $1,299 in either Epic Silver or Nebula Red starting October 25th.
