Dell Acquires Make Technology, Gains Leg-Up In Services
Dell's been in the news lately for their decision to step back from smartphones -- perhaps, anyway -- but they're quietly acquiring some pretty valuable assets in the background. Now, the company has snapped up Make Technologies, expanding Dell's services capabilities and giving them another leg-up in the enterprise service market. Make is a provider of application modernization software and services that reduce the cost, risk and time required to re-engineer applications. With the acquisition of Make Technologies, Clerity Solutions and existing Dell Services capabilities, Dell provides end-to-end solutions from hardware through application migration services.

Perhaps Dell is actually shifting to be more of an enterprise company and less of a consumer company, sort of like IBM did years ago. Time will tell, but we surely hope those XPS machines don't vanish anytime soon.
