Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Announced, Slated For October 12 Launch

Here we have it, folks! This year's installment in the Call of Duty franchise has been officially confirmed by Activision. The game was announced via the official Call of Duty twitter account and will be called Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

Rather curiously, news of the game leaked earlier this week by none other than Oklahoma City Thunder point guard James Harden, who was spotted wearing camouflage and a baseball cap with the Black Ops 4 logo emblazoned on it. Today's tweet confirms the Harden was showing off the real deal.

Treyarch, the studio that developed the first three Black Ops games, is also in charge of the fourth installment. If you look at the teaser trailer below, we can expect to see another Zombies mode, which has proven to be extremely popular with gamers.

Activision has confirmed that the game will be released on October 12th, and that it will be available on the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms. However, prior to the official launch, Activision will hold a "Community Reveal Event" on May 17th, which should give us a lot more insight into what the game will bring to the table and what the overall storyline will be like.

For those that keep track of such things, Call of Duty games are usually released in late October or in November. However, Black Ops 4 is a bit of an anomaly with its early October launch date. Conspiracy theorists might suggest that Activision is looking to avoid a head-to-head battle with the highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2, which is scheduled to launch on October 26th barring any additional delays.
