If you have been waiting for the right time to upgrade from your old Switch to a new Switch 2 console, run, don't walk to Best Buy this weekend and take advantage of the retailer's boosted trade-in offer. Depending on which version of the OG Switch you own, the special weekend deal can effectively drop the price of the Switch 2 to as low as $244.99. Or even lower...
How To Score A Switch 2 For $244.99 With Trade-In

As part of the promotion, Best Buy is advertising $75 off the Switch 2 and up to an additional $130 with a Switch trade-in. The retailer's phrasing is a bit awkward, but Best Buy's weekend Switch promotion is one of the best offers we've seen for the Switch 2, and it comes right before Nintendo and its retail partners get ready to jack up the price.
Here are the values:
Up to $130 for Nintendo Switch – OLED Model
Up to $75 for Nintendo Switch
Up to $60 for Nintendo Switch Lite
Let's say you own a Switch OLED and want to turn it into a standalone Switch 2. Assuming it's in working condition and includes the Joy-Con controllers, Best Buy will give $130 in trade-in credit, plus an additional $75 as part of the promotion, bringing the total trade-in value to $205.
That's roughly in line with what you can get by selling it on eBay (after factoring in fees and shipping). Just as importantly, trading in a Switch OLED as part of this promotion effectively reduces the cost of the standalone Switch 2 from $449.99 to $244.99 (before Uncle Sam gets his cut, naturally).
Likewise, the 'Choose Your Game Bundle' variant drops from $499.99 to $294.99. The caveat is that it's currently out of stock online, though keep checking or head in-store to take advantage of the offer. Getting a Switch 2 with a game for under $300 is a killer deal.

Another noteworthy promotion as part of Best Buy's 60th anniversary sales bonanza is the chance to score a $100 Best Buy gift card for $60.
"On Saturday, Aug. 22, six special Anniversary Day offers will be available exclusively in stores, including a $100 Best Buy gift card for $60. Quantities of the offers are limited, so stop by early for the best chance to snag these one-day-only deals," Best Buy says.
We've seen reports that quantities could be limited to 50 discounted gift cards per store. If so, you will have to be there early to beat the rush, and even then, you might find yourself too far back in line. It's tough to predict what the demand will be, and it will obviously vary by location. However, the significant savings make it likelly that each store will sell out quickly.
If you're able to secure one, though, you could apply it to the Switch offer above for an additional $40 savings. That would bring the effective cost of the Switch 2 with a Switch OLED trade-in down to $204.99, and the bundle variant down to $254.99.
