Battle of the Titans: Elite Gamers Gather in NYC
World Cyber Games is the largest annual gaming
festival in the world. The best gamers from all over the world will gather this weekend in New York to compete in the US Open tournament series.
Participating countries engage in preliminary rounds of play before the best of
the best are sent off to represent them in the main events. They will be
competing for over $20,000 worth of cash and prizes.
"Among the competitors in the US Open are professional Starcraft
gamer "Red_ScorpiO" (Ralph Geunhwa), professional Dead
or Alive 4 gamer "Master" (Emannuel Rodriguez), professional Counter
Strike players Team Pandemic, professional Gears
of War players Team MoB Hot n Mild, and several others."
"The tournament is being held at the Samsung Store in
the Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle, and will be open to spectators.
Better yet, even complete newbies will be able to participate in a Tony
Hawk's Project 8 tournament for a wild card slot in the WCG USA National
Final."
WCG first started in 2001. Its official motto is "Beyond the Game."
