AMD is betting big on its relationship with Meta, announcing plans to invest $1 billion in the social media giant's equity offering. The investment comes as the two companies expand their collaboration on AI infrastructure, with millions of EPYC processors already deployed across Meta's data centers and AMD's Helios rack-scale systems entering the picture as well.
The announcement highlights just how deeply AMD's hardware is embedded in Meta's AI ambitions and growth opportunities. Beyond CPUs, the partnership includes Instinct GPUs, Pensando networking solutions, and ROCm software, with the companies working together on everything from existing AI workloads to future chip architectures.
"Meta is a strategic partner for AMD, and we have built this partnership through years of deep technical collaboration—from EPYC processors powering Meta’s infrastructure to Instinct GPUs and open software supporting its AI workloads," said Lisa Su, chair and CEO, AMD. “With Helios now running at Meta, we are taking that partnership to a new scale in the superintelligence era."

Dr. Su goes on to say that AMD and Meta are building and deploying infrastructure at gigawatt scale. Relatedly, one of the more interesting revelations is the sheer number of AMD processors Meta has already deployed. According to AMD, Meta has installed millions of EPYC CPUs spanning multiple generations, including processors supporting the dedicated computing environments behind its Muse personal AI agent. The company also says that Meta is a lead customer for its 6th Gen EPYC chips, and that the two firms are collaborating on Verano.
On the GPU side, AMD says its Instinct accelerators are already being used in production for AI training, ranking, and recommendation workloads at Meta. The social media juggernaut was also an early definition customer for the Instinct MI450 architecture and plans to deploy a customized Instinct GPU optimized for its workloads.
"AMD has been a key partner in building out the compute that's running our frontier models," said Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO, Meta. "We're making big investments in the computing power that will enable us to bring personal superintelligence to everyone, and AMD plays an important role in that."
