64-Bit Catalysts, 8X DVD Burnin', Tiny-Video, Foxconn Athlon64 Mobo.
Good morning all. It's that time again where we bring you some morning news from the PC hardware world. The weekend is fast approaching, so let's get to it and then let the relaxing begin!
Foxconn 755A01-6EKRS Athlon64 Motherboard (SiS 755) review @ hardCOREware.net:
"If you have owned a computer in the past 23 years, I can virtually guarantee that you have used at least one Foxconn product at some point in time. It may have been an IDE cable, USB plug, or the socket you plug your memory into on a motherboard. For most of their history, Foxconn has stuck to producing parts sold directly to motherboard and other component manufacturers."
AMDZone took some time to play with the new ATI CATALYST beta 1 for the Athlon64. Armed with a beta version on Windows XP 64, they went to town with UT2004 to see what we can expect:
"Yesterday we were pleased to see ATI release Catalyst beta 1 AMD64 drivers for their Radeon line of video cards. Nvidia had beaten them to the punch, and only Windows drivers are available, but it is progress. Having tested the 64 bit UT2004 Linux demo with 64 bit Nvidia drivers we decided to see how well 32 bit games performed under the 64 bit OS and drivers. Armed with my eMachines M6805 laptop with Windows XP and Windows XP 64 loaded we were off."
Techware Labs has completed a review of Lite-on's 8x all-format DVD burner:
"DVD burners are finally coming into the limelight. They are now extremely affordable and they will soon replace CD burners in most new systems. Lite-On has recently released their 8x all-format drive. We the drive in the lab for a little testing. Read the review and see how it performs."
Samsung SCD303 Mini-DV Camcorder @ Bytesector:
"You have seen Bytesector reviews on several Samsung products; monitors, storage devices, and home theatres. Now we would like to introduce our first digital camcorder review. Samsung has sent us their SCD303 Mini-DV Digital-Camera. This compact and lightweight device is bundled with 20x optical zoom, USB streaming, DV output, MPEG4 movie capture, a memory stick slot, and more. Let's take a look at this little bundle of joy up close..."
Hope you all have a great weekend. Be sure to stop back, we have more on the way!
