$399 Borderlands ‘Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition’ For Xbox One And PS4 Comes With RC Claptrap

2K Games and Gearbox Software has a magnificent duo of gaming releases to announce today, starting off with Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, which will be available for both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. The set will include both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, which was released late last year. The Handsome Collection will also come with downloadable content for both titles.

While that’s all well and good, there’s an even greater bundle available that will not only bring out your inner child, but will also empty your wallet. If you’re one of the lucky 5,000 people that will have the opportunity to purchase the Borderlands: Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, you’re in for a real treat. The Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition includes everything from the Handsome Collection in addition to a steel case, 12 lithographs, and the pièce de résistance, a remote control Claptrap.

That’s right, you’ll have complete control over a fully functional Claptrap which includes an internal gyro that allows it to balance on one wheel (you’ve already sold me), a working camera (which can stream to your smartphone), and voice samples that you’ll recognize from Borderlands. And speaking of your smartphone, you’ll be able to control your Claptrap using the Claptrapp app, which will be available for both Android and iOS.

The Borderlands: Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition will not come cheap; in fact, it will cost you as much as a PlayStation 4. That’s right, you’ll be forking over $399 for this bundle. And given that the set is limited to just 5,000 copies worldwide, we have the feeling that it will fetch an even higher price on eBay as there will be plenty of people looking to make a quick buck of the sale of the set. Meanwhile, the regular ‘ol Handsome Collection will only set you back just $59.99.

The Handsome Collection and Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition will be released in North America on March 24, and internationally on March 27.
