We knew earlier that Microsoft and Yahoo! were talking again, and now reports indicate that a deal is all but done. On the other hand, the companies have been oh-so-close to a deal before, and until the pen is placed to the paper, the deal can still fall apart. The deal would be what has been hinted at for months: a search advertising deal,...

Another day, another PR mess for Amazon.com. Just as they seem to have settled the row over cracked Kindles (although the lawsuit continues!), users awoke Friday morning to find e-books remotely deleted from their Kindles, and the PR storm started up all over again. The Big...

Not good, and also not good that it took a lawsuit to prompt Amazon.com to offer replacements without...

It was expected, and here it is. Apple has updated iTunes to 8.2.1 and by doing so, has blocked the ability of the Palm Pre to use iTunes. One has...

It's hard to believe people are still using Internet Explorer 6, but it's true. In fact, Net Applications says that around 17% of users are still using the creaky old tab-less browser. You can expect it to be a lot less popular once YouTube dumps support of it, however. Yes, those who are working for companies that still require IE6 (and there...

Technophiles like ourselves who are also frugal have, in the past, purchased upgrade editions of Windows, and been able to do a clean, fresh install either by entering a prior valid license key or inserting a CD for the older software at install time. That went away with Vista, which required a hacky workaround, but now Microsoft is completely...

To be honest, we expect Microsoft to announce some sort of Family Pack for Windows 7, much as they did for Windows Vista. To this point, there's been no official announcement, but as retailers prep their sites for the October launch of WIndows 7, they have made a few mistakes. Fadfusion.com on Friday listed something called "W7 Family Pack...
