On Wednesday, Palm announced what had been rumored for months, since before the Palm Pre even launched: a second webOS based device that was cheaper and with a non-slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The Pixi (nee Eos or even Pixie) had been rumored to be announced this week, and here we are. The official pictures show little to nothing we hadn't already... Read more...
The adjunct to the Palm Pre is to be officially announced this week, according to sources speaking to TechCrunch. The new phone, with a QWERTY keyboard, was leaked before the Pre even launched on Sprint, as an AT&T device named EOS, and codenamed "Pixie." If this is true, it's another case of Palm doing an important announcement / launch... Read more...

Apple has finally allowed the Commodore 64 emulator by Manomio LLC into the App Store. It had previously been rejected (in June). In order to get their app accepted, however, the company had to disable BASIC from the package. I'm assuming that Commodore 64 fans (and there are plenty, as the C64 is the best-selling single computer model of... Read more...

AT&T's YouTube post aimed at damage control over increasing coverage complaints for its wireless network seems to have not helped at all. In fact, a look at the comments on their YouTube video (below) shows that, if anything, it's made customers more angry. The video, hosted by Seth Bloom AKA "Seth the blogger guys," tries to explain the... Read more...

AT&T has made tons of money off of the iPhone, but at the same time, received tons of criticism of its network. That criticism may or may not be warranted, as despite calls for a Verizon version of the iPhone, it's unclear if even Verizon's stronger 3G network could handle the data-guzzling device, which the NY Times recently called, "the... Amazon.com, which took the Orwellian step of remotely deleting copies of "1984" and "Animal Farm" from customers' Kindles, has apologized. On Thursday, they announced a sort of "reparations program" for those customers. In an email sent to "former owners" of the e-books, Amazon.com offered to either return the deleted... Read more...
Since the launch of iPhone OS 3.0, AT&T has taken a lot of flak over the announced but missing-from-its-network MMS feature. AT&T has also been the subject of multiple lawsuits as customers grow weary of waiting. In an update posted on their website, AT&T said that the delay has been a result of preparation for "expected record... Read more...
More details have arisen about the Sony Ericsson Aino cell phone that will have some PS3 integration embedded in it. It's not the "PSP phone" that people keep talking about and hoping for, and to be honest, it seems to lack a lot of what people might have been hoping for. In a Q&A with the Euro PS blog, Sony Ericsson's Lisa Canning dished... Read more...
There was an extended Gmail outage on Tuesday. The outage, although over in approximately two hours, showed, in its own way, how popular the email service is, despite its current 3rd place ranking. At the peak of the outage, more than Google Trends was full of "why is Gmail down," "Gmail down," etc. etc. We're talking about the top 20+ trends.... Read more...

Google's Chrome exited beta last December, well ahead of when you might normally expect a Google product to do so. It wasn't, however, because the browser was necessarily ready for prime time; it was because OEMs would not pre-install a beta product on their computers, and Google longed for those deals. It's finally managed to ink such a deal,... Read more...

The end of automated telemarketing calls (for the most part) comes on Tuesday, Sept. 1st. It's not the first time an e-tailer has outed a product early. It won't be the last. It appears that Amazon.com's German site has listed a 250GB version of the Xbox 360 Elite. It's a good time to be a gamer, eh? First the PS3 "Slim" and a $100 price reduction, then the corresponding $100 price drop for the Xbox 360 Elite, and now a 250GB Xbox... Read more...
