Brandon received his first PC, an IBM Aptiva 310, in 1994 and hasn’t looked back since. He cut his teeth on computer building/repair working at a mom and pop computer shop as a plucky teen in the mid 90s and went on to join AnandTech as the Senior News Editor in 1999. Brandon would later help to form DailyTech where he served as Editor-in-Chief from 2008 until 2014. Brandon is a tech geek at heart, and family members always know where to turn when they need free tech support. When he isn’t writing about the tech hardware or studying up on the latest in mobile gadgets, you’ll find him browsing forums that cater to his long-running passion: automobiles.

Apple’s iPhone is usually front and center at Apple’s September keynotes, but that wasn’t the case today. The iPhone was relegated to pulling up the rear of the keynote behind the Apple Watch, iPad Pro, and all-new Apple TV. But then again, we already knew what Apple was going to reveal — this is a refresh year... Read more...
Apple’s second big hardware reveal today came in the form of the Apple TV — its first major update since 2012. Apple CEO Tim Cook introduced the Apple TV, proclaiming that we’ve entered a “Golden age of television” and that “Our vision for TV is simple and perhaps a little provocative. We believe the future of... Read more...
Apple kicked off its major 2015 iOS hardware push today with the announcement of the long-rumored iPad Pro. The device features a massive 12.9-inch display, which is quite a step up from the 7.9-inch iPad mini and 9.7-inch iPad Air 2. This Retina-class display packs in 5.6 million pixels, which is more than what’s... Read more...
If there’s one constant in the tech industry, it’s change. Well-rounded and highly sought after executives come and go, either moving from between tech firms or departing the industry altogether to pursue other interests (ahem, Steve Ballmer). Even tech companies themselves go through a metamorphosis of sorts, as... Read more...
So long, farewell! Amazon’s Fire Phone launched to a collective “meh” from the tech community and from consumers. Mediocre specs and a high price tag couldn’t be saved by the free year of Prime that Amazon included with every purchase. Over the past year, Amazon has drastically slashed the price of the Fire Phone... Read more...

We’ve always been enamored with Zotac’s tiny Zbox mini PCs for quite some time now, but the company just may have outdone itself with the new Zbox Magnus EN970. For starters, let’s go ahead and get this out of the way — you won’t find an Intel Skylake processor under the hood on the Zbox Magnus EN970. Instead you’ll... Read more...

The FBI came a’knockin’ at Apple’s doorstep this past summer, but instead of opening the door to welcome in the agency, Apple simply turned its back and went about its business. This standoff between Apple and the Justice Department has gotten a bit testy in recent months, with the latter imploring the former to hand... Read more...
When it comes to tablets, Amazon’s Fire HD 6 is its cheapest offering, priced at just $99. As for eReaders, the cheapest Kindle will set you back just $79. However, what if we told you that Amazon is working on a tablet the undercut even the most basic Kindle in pricing? According to WSJ, Amazon is working on a new... Read more...
Microsoft’s Xbox One launch didn’t go off exactly as planned in late 2013. Before the console’s release, the company was dogged over DRM restrictions with the console (which were later dropped) and concerns over its high price tag compared to its counterpart, the Sony PlayStation 4. Microsoft would attribute the... Read more...

Front and center is the 12.5-inch display... Read more...
The Nexus 6 launched nearly a year ago with a price tag of $649. A year is an eternity in the smartphone world, and some... Read more...
It seems like eons ago, but in early June, ASUS first announced its second generation Android Wear smartwatch, the ZenWatch 2. The ZenWatch 2 doesn’t stray to far away from the original when it comes to styling, but it does offer quite a few more design options to appease a broader group of people. The ZenWatch 2...
