Apple Supply Chain Hints at iPhone 5S, Upgraded Camera, Faster Processor, Shipping Q3
Apple's next iPhone isn't going to be a major upgrade, just a "slightly enhanced version" of Apple's current handset, Digitimes says. Hence why it's likely to receive the iPhone 5S moniker.
It will feature a higher end processor than the custom Apple A6 SoC (System-on-Chip) found in the iPhone 5, which boasts a dual-core 32nm ARM-based CPU clocked at 1.3GHz with a tri-core PowerVR SGX543MP GPU. How much of an upgraded processor remains to be seen.
The iPhone 5S will also receive a camera upgrade with a higher megapixel count. Currently, the iPhone 5 features a high-quality 8MP "iSight" (rear-facing) camera with HDR capabilities that's pretty decent in low light situations, and thrives in normal and well lit environments (as long as you're not pointing the thing at the sun).
