ASUS MeMo Pad 10 with Android Jelly Bean Breaks Out Ahead of MWC

This year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is now ancient history in the fast moving world of tech, and the next big event is Mobile World Congress (MWC), which kicks off later this month. There will be lots of mobile devices on display, including a MeMo Pad 10 tablet from Asus, which has broken cover ahead of the show.

A Dutch website posted several details and press photos of the upcoming Android tablet, which is a bigger version of the 7-inch MeMo Pad introduced last month. Reportedly, the MeMo Pad 10 will rock a 1280x800 display, NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage, 5MP rear-facing camera, and a microSD card slot. On the software side, it will ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

It's not the most powerful tablet in the world, but it doesn't appear Asus is trying to compete at the high end. To wit, the 7-inch MeMo Pad only costs $149, and as Asus explained in its press release, "Our focus for this device is on delivering excellent performance per watt and a smooth and fluid user experience at an extremely affordable price, NOT on winning benchmarks."

We imagine that same philosophy will be carried over to the MeMo Pad 10. At present, a handful of Dutch retailers are accepting pre-orders starting at €299 ($405). It will be interesting to see what kind of MSRP it carries in the U.S.
