Sony might not be a dominant force in the smartphone market like Samsung, but the company is still belting out excellent smartphones powered by modern chips. Such is the case with the new Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact Android 8.0 Oreo flagships, which Sony announced will go up for pre-order starting April 13th exclusively from Best Buy. The smartphones will begin shipping from Best Buy's online site starting on April 20th. If you'd prefer to pick up either smartphone in person, brick and mortar Best Buy locations will begin selling them on May 6th. Then, starting on May 20th, both the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact and will be available to purchase at Amazon (and other online retailers)....

We have been hearing quite a bit about Sony's Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact handsets leading up to the Mobile World Congress (MWC) trade show in Barcelona, just none of the information prior to today was official. Now it is, with Sony unveiling both new smartphones at MWC, along with a set of Xperia Ear Duo wireless earbuds with a built-in support for digital artificial intelligence (AI) assistants. Starting at the top of the stack, the new Xperia XZ2 boasts an "extended" 5.7-inch Full HD+ display with a 2160x1080 resolution (18:9 aspect ratio) and HDR support. Sony's upcoming 2018 Android flagships have been leaking for quite some time, but we're now getting our best look yet at the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact. We'd give you two guesses as to who leaked these smartphone beauties, but you'll probably only need one guess (it's Evan Blass, of course).
