When we initially heard about Intel's Wireless Display (WiDi for short) technology, we immediately suspected it would become the next killer application for notebooks. The dream of wireless streaming for video, particularly in consumer machines at consumer-level prices, was a big one. To date, WiDi hasn't really grabbed a huge chunk of mind share, at least not in the way of some other things -- things like Android and iOS. That said, it's still a viable option, and it's only getting better with time. D-Link is now looking to cash in on the solution by shipping their MainStage for Wireless Display (DHD-131), which delivers the web directly to TV screens. It claims to be an easy way to surf the... There's almost nothing better than a good product getting better, but that's the case with MSI's revised CR420. It's a member of the company's "Classic" notebook series, boasting an understated design and a 14" screen, but the new fellow has something that few other laptops on the market today have: Intel's Wireless Display. The new CR420 is powered by Intel's Core series of processors and enjoys MSI's own cross-hatch color film print coating. It's lightweight (2.2kg), has a chiclet keyboard, a flush trackpad and beveled edges. The base model has a Core i5 up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, Intel's HD integrated graphics, an HDMI output, VGA output, 250/320/500GB hard drive, a DVD Super-Multi drive, a... Read more...
Intel's Wireless Display technology is one of the hottest technologies we have seen in recent years; announced at CES this year, the tech hasn't really found a home yet in products. But once it does, watch out. It basically allows products to wirelessly transfer content on a screen onto some other screen, and it's something that could've made the iPad a truly killer device (not to mention any other tablet PC out there that feels like adding it in at the 11th hour). But now, Intel seems to have bigger plans. Not only will this technology find its way eventually into netbooks and notebooks, but handheld devices are on the roadmap as well. According to new executive statements made about the tech,... Read more...
At this year's CES show in Vegas there have been more than a couple of relatively exciting announcements and of course Intel was intent on joining the party.  Today we got to spend some quality time behind closed doors with the folks in Intel's Mobile group learning a bit about some of the new features that will be coming to their Core i5 and Core i3 Mobile platforms in the weeks ahead.  We heard some fairly inspiring things about the technology back in the November time frame at a cozy bistro in New York city but today we were able to see it in action and it was impressive to say the least. Intel's new WiDi (Wireless Display Interface) technology will start to be bundled with various... Read more...
