Corporations want to maximize their profits, both for themselves and their shareholders. Thus, this shouldn't come as a surprise. A tipster has come forward and said that Samsung is holding back the Android 2.2 (Froyo) update from the T-Mobile Vibrant (Samsung Galaxy S variant) because they are afraid that such an update will impact sales of their upcoming Samsung Vibrant 4G Plus. Reportedly, the new device is little different than the original Vibrant. In addition to the original Vibrant, the Vibrant 4G Plus has a front-facing camera, Android 2.2, and HSDPA+ 21 support. AT&T launched the Captivate (below), its Samsung Galaxy S variant, on Sunday, as scheduled. With that, it was the third launch of a hot Android device since Thursday.  Indeed, Thursday was a day with a twin set of Android device launches.  On Thursday, Verizon launched the Motorola Droid X, while T-Mobile simultaneously launched the Vibrant, its own Samsung Galaxy S variant. Go ahead T-Mobile customers, toss that slow-as-molasses HTC Dream (G1) phone into the river, the same one that enticed you get locked into a 2-year agreement back before all the cool Android phones made their way to other wireless carriers. You won't be needing it anymore, not with the Samsung Vibrant now being offered, an Android phone you can finally be excited about. AT&T's first high-end Android-powered smartphone, the Samsung Captivate, is coming on July 18. That's right, in just over a week you'll be able to get your hands on AT&T's version of the Super AMOLED Galaxy S smartphone. This feature-filled phone has a 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480) Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen and 16GB of internal storage. The Captivate was announced in late June and is part of Samsung's Galaxy S line. Although the phone had been previously announced, AT&T just recently revealed the smartphone will be available starting July 18. MobiTV is hoping to capitalize on the growing Android market with the expansion of its core live TV and video-on-demand service to more Android-based devices. MobiTV already delivers live and video-on-demand programming to the Android-based Sprint EVO 4G and HTC Hero, as well as the Motorola Backflip from AT&T. MobiTV's availability will expand even further when the T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant becomes available on July 21.
