HMD Global has officially resurrected the Nokia X-series with the introduction of the Nokia X6 at a launch event in Beijing, China. The new phone is yet another Android device to adopt a notched display similar in style to Apple's flagship iPhone X (the Essential Phone was actually the first handset to use a notch). Unlike the iPhone X, however, the Nokia X6 is a mid-range smartphone built around Qualcomm's Snadragon 636 chipset. They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and that definitely appears to be the case with ASUS. The company just announced the ZenFone 5, which is a dead ringer for Apple’s iPhone X. Like the iPhone X, the ZenFone 5 features a "notch" in its display that houses the front-facing selfie camera, speaker and various other sensors. Qualcomm has announced a new SoC called the Snapdragon 636, and it is aimed squarely at the heart of the mid-range market. The SoC has custom Kryo 260 processing cores promising a 40 percent performance improvement over the current Snapdragon 630. The Snapdragon 636 platform will support ultra-wide FHD+ displays and has Assertive Display tech inside to optimize visibility of the display in all lighting conditions.
