When Apple launched its new iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro smartphones back in September, the company impressed with its blazing fast A13 Bionic SoC, incredibly bright display, and top-notch image quality from its new dual- and triple camera arrays. More importantly, Apple managed to boost battery life by up to 5 hours compared to the previous generation models without a significant increase in thickness. For those that still aren't satisfied with the battery life improvements (+1, +4, and +5 hours respectively on the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max), then Apple has just officially launched new Smart Battery Cases for all three smartphones. Like previous generation Smart Battery... Read more...
When Apple announced its iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro smartphones earlier this month, the upgraded cameras were perhaps the most talked about new feature. The iPhone 11 (the successor to the iPhone XR) now features two cameras, while the iPhone 11 Pro/Pro Max (successors to the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max) come with three cameras. But equally important is the SoC that is powering the smartphones: the A3 Bionic, which is comprised of over 8.5 billion transistors. This new SoC is based on second-generation 7nm process tech, with a heavy emphasis on performance-per-watt. The folks over at Wired were able to talk with Phil Schiller, Apple's SVP of Worldwide Marketing, and... Read more...
Apple has just released Smart Battery Cases for its 2018 lineup of smartphones, which include the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max. The cases are available in either white or black finishes and aren't exactly aesthetically pleasing with a rather large "hump" on the back that houses the battery. Existence of the cases was first leaked in early December. The new Smart Battery Case will cost you $129 regardless of which iPhone model you have. The Smart Battery Case for the iPhone XR will give you a maximum of 37 hours talk, 20 hours internet, and 20 hours of video. The iPhone XS paired with its Smart Battery Case will return figures of 33 hours, 21 hours, and 25 hours... Read more...
Way back in late 2015, Apple released its first Smart Battery Case intended for use on the iPhone 6s. Priced at $99, the device boosted overall runtimes for the device to 25 hours, but was widely mocked for its ghastly battery "hump" which looked totally out of place with absolutely no attention paid to aesthetics. Things didn't improve with the Smart Battery Case for the iPhone 7. Now it looks as though Apple is ready to take another stab at the accessory three years after it launched the original. Guilherme Rambo did some digging into watchOS 5.1.2 and found a fresh icon that depicts a new Smart Battery Case. This time around, as you can see by the pill-shaped cutout for... Read more...
Apple's catching some flak over its new Smart Battery Case for iPhone 6s devices. It's a $99 case that promises to bump talk time up to 25 hours, Internet use up to 18 hours (on LTE), and video playback up to 20 hours, but at the expense of an unsightly bulge on its backside, to name one of the complaints. What does Apple CEO Tim Cook think about the hump?"You know, I probably wouldn't call it a hump," Cook told Mashable during a recent coding event. "As you probably know from being a user of this now, one of the real insights here is, have you ever used other cases and tried to get them on?"Cook went on to talk about the case's construction and how easy it is to install and take off of iPhone...
