Sigma is a well-known name in the camera industry, particularly the high-end camera industry. And nothing says high-end quite like 46 megapixels. Though, the effective output of the SD1's 46 megapixels is really just 15.3MP (the math goes something like this: 4800 x 3200 x 3), due to a rare 24x16mm APS-C X3 direct image sensor. Sigma claims that this offers more megapixels than any other camera in the market, and while true, you won't get an image with a pixel size any larger than you would from any other 15.3MP camera.
