The cat was first let out of the bag earlier this month that Motorola would bring the Moto X4 to the United States as the country's first Android One device. Today, Google confirmed that news and announced that the Moto X4 will be available via its Project Fi wireless service. What makes this Android One Moto X4 different is the fact that it runs the Android One operating system, which Google says offers a "pure Android experience". You won't find any extra Motorola software installed on the device, nor will you find any bloatware Although the Android One Moto X4 will come from the factory with Android Nougat, it will receive an update to Android Oreo before the end of the year. Now Motorola appears to be following suit with an Android One version of its forthcoming Moto X4 device, according to a pressed render posted by Twitter by the infamous inside man Evan Blass (@evleaks). If that is indeed the case, the Moto X4 could end up being the first phone powered by Android One in the United States. Motorola may have just launched its Moto Z2 Force flagship, but it hasn’t forgotten about its “lesser” models. That leads us to the Moto X4, which has been leaked again via a press render. What we have here is clearly a handsome mid-range smartphone that doesn’t embrace the minimal display bezel design trend that is becoming more commonplace. Despite the bezels, we’re sure that there are plenty of people that prefer the front placement of the fingerprint reader on Moto X4 smartphone versus the rear placement that is necessitated by designs where the display takes up the full face of the smartphone. When it comes to specs, the Moto X4 will feature a 5.2-inch Full HD display and will be powered... Read more...

For those of us that are used to traditional wireless plans from carriers like AT&T and Verizon, Google’s Project Fi is definitely a rather quirky alternative. The downside, however is that the number of smartphones that can be used with the service is very limited at this time. Right now, the only officially supported smartphones are the Nexus 5, Nexus 6P, Pixel and Pixel XL. However, that list will grow by [at least] one phone in the coming months according to Google. The internet giant tweeted out the following earlier this week: We hear you loud and clear. Keep an eye out for a new Fi-compatible device at a mid-tier price from one of our partners later this year. https://t.co/74U3bq16pa... Read more...

Motorola's been a bit quiet in the high-end smartphone market, though it looks as if the Lenovo-owned company is getting ready to make a splash with its fourth generation Moto X. Some leaked renders of the forthcoming Moto X4 suggest and all-metal construction with a curvy top and bottom, along with something interesting on the its backside. Towards the bottom of the rear are two rows of dots. They almost look like speaker holes, except the series of gold contacts suggests they'll be used to connect to a smart dock, possibly one that can charge the handset and/or offer additional functionality. They might also be used for a series of accessories. The Moto X4 isn't out yet nor has it been formally... Read more...
