NEC plans to show off a dual-screen tablet running on Android at the Consumer Electronics Show in January. According to reports, the new tablet will resemble the LifeTouch tablet that NEC announced last month for the Japanese market. The original LifeTouch tablet has a single 7-inch touchscreen. The new tablet will have a pair of 7-inch touchscreens as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity. You'll be able to view different information on each display simultaneously. Additional details about the tablet such as the type of touchscreen (resistive or capacitive) and the version of Android used on the tablets are still unknown. A tablet is a tablet, right? Well, except for when it's a LifeTouch tablet. For the most part, the tablets that have emerged in 2010 are all consumer-based units with a heavy emphasis on web browsing, media consumption and communications like video calling. We did see one tablet from Indamixx that catered to music creators, but outside of that, there hasn't been a whole lot of variety. But NEC is all about variety.
