Following an appearance at the Mobile World Congress event earlier this year, HMD Global on Wednesday launched its Nokia 4.2 smartphone, and has opened up the mid-range device to preorders. Here is the best part though—the asking price is a comparatively scant $189, making the Nokia 4.2 one of the more affordable handsets around. Obviously at that price the phone does not come with bleeding edge hardware, and as such it is not going to topple the likes of Samsung's Galaxy S10 or Apple's iPhone XS Max, or any flagship phone that is out there. Those phones are faster, and of course they cost way more as a result, topping a grand in some cases (depending on the configuration). So what does... Read more...
If you’re looking for camera overload with your next smartphone, HMD Global is hoping to grab your attention with the release of the Nokia 9 PureView flagship smartphone. We talked about the phone in detail earlier this week when it was officially unveiled, but official pricing and availability is now being presented for all to see. For starters, the Nokia 9 PureView has an MSRP of $699, which is about a $100 less than what you’d expect to pay for a Google Pixel 3. However, HMD Global has a limited time promotion that is currently running that knocks $100 off that price, taking it to a more affordable $599 price tag.  The smartphone officially goes on sale March 3rd,... HMD Global, the “home” of Nokia phones, introduced a number of smartphones at the 2019 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain. One of their most striking devices is the Nokia 9 PureView, which features a “Penta-lens” camera system with Zeiss Optics and Android 9 Pie. The Nokia 9 PureView includes seven circular cutouts on its back. Two of these cutouts are color cameras with Zeiss Optics, another three are monochrome sensors, and the final two are a LED flash and proximity sensor. The device uses artificial intelligence (AI) to to combine the data gathered from all of the cameras. The PureView is reportedly able to capture up to ten times as much light as... Read more...
Finnish company HMD Global is firmly entrenched in flagship smartphone territory with the release of its device: the Nokia 8. After the company acquired the rights to Nokia’s feature phone business, we’ve been waiting patiently to see what the company could do with high-end hardware. Luckily, there’s a lot to like. The most visible feature of the Nokia 8 is of course its display, which in this case measure 5.3 inches with a resolution of 2560x1440 (QHD). Unlike many of the recently introduced flagships that are making the rounds, however, the 7.3mm-inch Nokia 8 has rather large bezels at the top and bottom of the display. The large bezel area also means that the Nokia 8 retains a traditional... Read more...
Here is the best look yet that we have received to date showcasing the upcoming Nokia 8 flagship Android smartphone. The smartphone, which is produced by Finnish company HMD Global, will be going head-to-head against the brightest stars in the Android smartphone market including the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the LG G6. However, unlike those aforementioned smartphones, the Nokia 8 doesn’t go for a bezel-free design. Instead, you’ll find large bezels flanking the top and bottom of the screen along with a traditional home and navigation buttons. However, perhaps the biggest news to come out of this leak is a clear look at the dual cameras on the back of the Nokia 8. The dual-camera system is accompanied... Read more...
We were given our first glimpse at the Nokia 6 Android smartphone back in January. The Nokia 6, which is produced by HMD Global, was announced as a mid-range fighter, packing a Snapdragon 430 processor, 4GB RAM, 5.5-inch Full HD display, 64GB of internal storage, 16MP rear camera, 8MP selfie camera, 3000 mAh battery and a front-mounted fingerprint sensor. Today we’re being given the lowdown on the Nokia 6’s arrival here in the United States. Unfortunately, it looks as though the version of the phone that we will get won’t be as well spec’d. We will receive only 3GB of RAM, while internal storage has been cut in half to just 32GB. At least there’s a microSD slot which supports up to 128GB cards... Read more...
Nokia is back in the smartphone business, but the company has not yet been restored to its former glory. Nokia sat idly by after it sold its Devices and Services Division to Microsoft, only to see the company squander any momentum with smartphones and layoff thousands of employees in the process. HMD Global (HMD), a Finnish company that acquired the rights to use the Nokia brand, has released its first smartphone, the Nokia 6. Like the overwhelming majority of new smartphones released today, it is running Google’s Android operating system — in this case, the most recent version, Nougat. The Nokia 6 is squarely in mid-range smartphone territory, bringing with it a 5.5-inch 1080p display wrapped... Read more...
