It seems hard to believe now, but for a long time the monitor market was stuck in a rut without any kind of real innovation taking place. That started to change with 4K Ultra HD gained steam, and monitor makers have been using the opportunity to release new models with fancy new features. Just this week alone we've seen Samsung launch a trio of promising Quantum Dot displays and now LG offering up three new models of its own, including one with Google Cast built into it. That's the 34UM79M, a 34-inch UltraWide flat panel display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. That gives you a bunch of vertical space to work with, which is great for multitasking. Google is making it easier for those using its Google Fiber TV service to turn any TV in your house into a Smart TV. The company announced today that those who own a Google Fiber TV box will soon be able to take advantage of Google Cast support. And since casting is such a big part of this new TV experience, the P-Series TVs ditch the traditional remote control in favor of Vizio’s own 6-inch, 1080p Android Lollipop tablet with 16GB of onboard storage. Not much else has been shared... Read more...

Similar to AirPlay and Google Cast, Amazon Fling gives Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick owners the ability to beam images, video, and audio from their iOS and Android mobile apps to their television. To kick things off, Amazon has made available its Fling Software Development Kit (SDK). The neat thing about the SDK is that it's not limited to flinging media content to Fire TV devices, it also supports two-way communication between Fire TV and mobile apps. This type of functionality opens the door for some unique and innovative two-way... Read more...
