When it comes to its highly profitable Xeon Scalable server processors, Intel has been on the defensive as of late versus its chief rival AMD. While INTC has an overwhelmingly large lead in server processor market share, it also is looking to protect that lead with the release of its Cascade Lake Refresh processors. Intel closed out 2019 with $72 billion in revenue, an all-time high for the company, and one heck of a feather for CEO Bob Swan to put in his cap (it was his first full-year at the helm). So, it's not as though Intel has entered into a tailspin. However, Intel does face stiffer competition from AMD these days than ever before, and that is having an effect on its business strategy.
