There's a first time for everything, as the saying goes, and the Alienware 13 OLED is a first for us without question. Though there were a couple of OLED (Organic LED) display driven laptops at CES 2016 this year, Dell's Alienware division is the first in the door here at HotHardware with a retail ready product. OLED displays offer better brightness, contrast, saturation and pixel response times versus legacy display types like IPS, and in in general they're more power efficient as well. Dell's Alienware 13 gaming notebook has been a favorite among gamers on the go and power users that want a little more horsepower in a light, 13-inch machine. Alienware is celebrating twenty years of extreme gaming excellence and to commemorate that milestone, Dell is launching four new gaming systems. The systems include the kickass Alienware 13 OLED notebook along with the Aurora, Alpha and Area-51 desktops. The most high-profile launch is of course the new Alienware 13 OLED, which is available with a 13-inch OLED panel and a display resolution of 2560x1440. The panel, which was developed in conjunction with Samsung, features a contrast ratio of 100,000:1 and offers response times as low as 1ms, with a max of 2ms.
