Apple iPhone 7 mania is already upon us. Apple’s next generation iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were announced on Wednesday, and preorders for the phones kicked off this morning. As we found out earlier this week, both models are powered by a brand new, quad-core Apple A10 Fusion processor. The A9X processor used in Apple’s new iPad Pro is a beast. When the professional-grade tablet was announced back in early September, Apple claimed that it was faster than 80 percent of the PCs that have shipped in the past year. Apple also bragged that the SoC is 1.5 times faster than typical x86 processors, while offering up to two times the graphics performance of the A8X SoC found in the 9.7-inch iPad Air 2. Now, thanks to Chipworks, we’re learning a bit more about what makes the A9X tick. The iPad Pro is almost here, with Apple announcing this morning that the “epic” tablet will be available to order in 40 countries starting on Wednesday. Apple kicked off its major 2015 iOS hardware push today with the announcement of the long-rumored iPad Pro. The device features a massive 12.9-inch display, which is quite a step up from the 7.9-inch iPad mini and 9.7-inch iPad Air 2. This Retina-class display packs in 5.6 million pixels, which is more than what’s found in the Retina MacBook Pro. Under the hood is Apple’s third generation 64-bit processor, the A9X. The A9X offers 2x the memory bandwidth and 1.8x the performance of the A8X found in the iPad Air 2 along with 2x faster storage performance.
