ZOTAC Takes Air-Cooling Up A Notch With GeForce GTX 470 And 480 AMP! Editions

Whenever we hear about a new "world's fastest" in the graphics card world, we can't help but take notice. ZOTAC has gone above and beyond this time though, by announcing that they're introducing the world's fastest air-cooled GeForce GTX 400 Series, meaning that you won't have to worry over a liquid cooling rig to keep this GPU from boiling over.


The new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 AMP! Edition and GTX 470 AMP! Edition graphics cards have been highly tweaked for better performance without the need for a liquid cooling solution, starting with a "completely tweaked PCB engineered to maximize performance and overclocking." The revamped cooling system features a heatsink made of a pure copper base and heat pipes attached to pure aluminum fins for maximum cooling performance, and a pair of 92mm fans keeps some serious airflow going around these toasty chips.

Both cards are also equipped with black heatsink covers for an extra raw look. As for speeds, the GTX 480 AMP! has a 765MHz core clock, 512MHz shader and 3800MHz memory clocks while the GeForce GTX 470 AMP! Edition raises performance to 656MHz engine, 1312MHz shader and 3402MHz memory clocks. Pricing has yet to be announced, but we're sure you'll be checking often if you're an anti-liquid kind of person.
