Buzzkill Walmart Cancels Every SNES Classic Pre-Order Blaming Website Glitch

NES Classic Edition
It’s official; if you managed to somehow be awake Friday night to get in on Walmart’s pre-order madness for the Nintendo SNES Classic, your celebratory dance is about to turn into misery. We initially thought that Walmart was randomly canceling pre-orders that went through, but the company just sent out a mass email saying that all orders are being canceled.

Talk about a slap in the face. While some customers received “unofficial” confirmation of mass cancellations from various Walmart team members from online chat sessions over the past few days, this email represents the official corporate line from Walmart. In the email, the company says:

Unfortunately, due to a technical glitch, the Super Nintendo Classic Edition was mistakenly made available last Friday evening ahead of the official release date. We, regrettably, will have to cancel this item on your order. We know that this is incredibly disappoint to you, and we’re truly sorry for this mistake.

If somehow your order still hasn’t been canceled, don’t worry, your time is coming. This is an unfortunate turn of events for those that were [seemingly] lucky enough to get their orders in.

However, there are still plenty of other opportunities to get your hands on an SNES Classic in the future. Not only will Walmart bring its pre-ordering system back online, but you will be able to get it from retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Gamestop and B&H Photo.
