Verizon Wireless Announces The Samsung Omnia II

Verizon Wireless is adding to its wireless handset lineup with the new Samsung Omnia II, a touchscreen smartphone powered by Windows Mobile 6.5. The Omnia II has a more rounded and attractive body than the original Omnia. This new phone has a 3.7-inch, 480-by-800-pixel AMOLED touch screen along with an on-screen QWERTY keyboard that uses Swype technology and a 3D cube user interface.

The Omnia II offers full HTML Web browsing capabilities thanks to the Opera 9.5 browser. It also has support for Verizon V CAST music and video services, VZ Navigator, and Visual Voicemail. Just like the original Omnia, this new version has a 5 megapixel camera with a flash and auto-focus as well as DivX and Xvid movie file support.

The Samsung Omnia II will be available December 2 for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.
