Verizon Newest Unlimited Plans Bundle 6 Months Of Free Apple Music

Verizon is partnering with Apple to offer customers six free months of Apple Music when they sign up for the wireless carrier's Unlimited service tier. The special offer is available to both new and current Unlimited customers. Those who want to take advantage of it just need to register to unlocked full access to Apple Music.

While not a ground shaking promotion, it is certainly an interesting one that could bolster the subscriber counts of both the largest wireless carrier in the United States (Verizon) and the first trillion-dollar company (Apple). The special promotion might also be a precursor of things to come—Verizon hinted that this partnership could have legs.

"This first-of-its-kind offer is just the first step in an exclusive partnership with Apple," said Angie Klein, vice president of marketing, Verizon. "It gives our customers exactly what they want: Apple’s best-in-class music streaming experience, paired with an unlimited plan tailored to them, on the network they deserve."

These are two cutthroat businesses at play here. For Apple, it is going up against a streaming juggernaut in Spotify. Apple's rapid growth this past year has seen it catch up with Spotify in the US, with both services hovering around the 20-million subscriber mark. Teaming up with Verizon could give Apple Music even more momentum.

For Verizon, offering Apple Music is a value add that comes at a time with wireless carriers are teaming up with third-parties. T-Mobile, for example, bundles free Netflix with its ONE plan, and a Hulu subscription comes free for Sprint Unlimited Freedom customers.
