UK Bans Revised Manhunt 2 Game

Manhunt 2, which had already been rejected by UK censors once, was refused again in its revised form.  The game was the first to be refused certification in the UK in 10 years.  Its prequel has been accused of contributing to a schoolboy's murder.

Rockstar submitted a revised version but BBFC director David Cooke said that "we do not consider that these [changes] go far enough to address our concerns about the original version.

"The impact of the revisions on the bleakness and callousness of tone, or the essential nature of the gameplay, is clearly insufficient.

"There has been a reduction in the visual detail in some of the 'execution kills', but in others they retain their original visceral and casually sadistic nature."

The police have discounted the claims of
the parents of Stefan Pakeerah (pictured above) regarding his fatal stabbing and the possible role of the original Manhunt game.
