Turtle Beach Reveals New Gaming Headsets For PC, PS3 And Xbox 360
CES just wouldn't be CES without a couple of new gaming accessories.
Turtle Beach is here at the show to demonstrate their latest line of
gaming headsets for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC with the flagship Force PX5
Programmable Wireless Surround Sound Headset taking the lead. There's
also an Ear Force P11 Amplified Stereo Gaming Headset for PS3, and the
XC1 XBOX LIVE Communicator Headset, but we'll focus on the first
one...well, first!
The PX5 looks like just about every other gaming headset with a microphone at first, but it has a DSP inside of it and is capable of saving settings on itself. It's designed mostly for use with the PS3 and Xbox 360, with the programmable digital signal processor allowing independent customization of the chat, game, and microphone signals. Those custom settings are stored inside of it, and can be chosen during various parts of the game to emphasize sounds like footsteps or reloads that might otherwise be difficult to hear. It can even be programmed to disguise a gamer’s voice or to enhance the voices of online players to be heard when the game gets louder. We suspect the kids will really love that voice changing one.
These personalized presets will be possible with software available from the Turtle Beach web site that allows the user to adjust the settings on a PC and transfer them via a USB connection to the headset. Going on with its list of amenities, the PX5 also has dual radios: one for Dolby Digital surround sound and a second for chatting. The headset will go on sale this Spring for $249.95.
There's also the Ear Force P11, going for $59.95 this Spring, and the Ear Force XC1 will cater to bargain buyers when it ships in the Spring for $24.95. More details are below.
