T-Mobile’s HTC One M8 Suits Up For Feb 9 Lollipop Makeover
The wait for Android 5.0 will soon be over for T-Mobile customers that have HTC’s flagship One M8. HTC’s VP of Product Management, Mo Versi, reported via Twitter that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update would be pushed out over-the-air (OTA) starting tomorrow (February 9).

Lollipop updates have been dropping at a furious pace in recent days. Just in the past week, Verizon released the Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy S5, while Sprint has sent out OTA updates for the Galaxy S5 and One M7. Sprint also plans to released Lollipop updates for the One M8 and LG G3 before the end of the month.
Earlier this month, HTC stated that it would miss its self-imposed 90-day deadline for delivering Lollipop updates to its smartphones. On February 1, Versi threw Google under the bus, stating, "We've been working hard in the labs with Google and our carrier partners ever since the code release and are making great progress so far, but if you’ve been following the progress of this rollout you will know that Google has had to address several issues with this release.
"We’ve been diligently working to fix some of them on our end and incorporating Google’s fixes as quickly as possible, but despite everyone’s best efforts some carrier versions of the HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) will not meet our 90 day goal, which is February 1st."
Interestingly, HTC had no problems working around those “several issues” when it released Google Play, Unlocked, and Developer Editions of the HTC One M8 last month. But that’s water under the bridge now, and we’re just happy to see the Lollipop updates flow freely from device OEMs. How if only we could get AT&T to get the lead out and start pushing Lollipop updates to its top-selling smartphones.
