Square Enix To Release Final Fantasy XV For Xbox One And PlayStation 4 In 2016
Good news, Final Fantasy fans! It's just been confirmed that Final Fantasy XV is going to be released at some point in 2016, for both Microsoft's Xbox One and Sony's PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, Square Enix has no current plans to release the game for the PC, which is a huge bummer for those who don't own a console.
In a new blog post, FF XV's director Hajime Tabata makes it sound as though the game could have been released last year, but that it definitely needed some more polishing. He writes, "In development, previous phases required wisdom and strength. However, moving forward the final phase will focus on effort and willpower."
He continues with something that would be nice to see other game publishers act on; "I vow to you all that every member in the team will do their best to the very last possible moment taking responsibility and pride in their craft."
We'd imagine that at this point refrigerators in Square Enix's offices are packed full with Elixirs, allowing the devs to enhance their focus and unleash all of that willpower into the forthcoming release.
Outside of the MMOs in the series, this particular Final Fantasy could end up becoming the most ambitious, with a number of things to take advantage of aside from the main story. You can see an example of that in the video above, with Chocobo riding, and fishing. Watching it will show you just how stunning the game is, and probably answer the question of why the game isn't out yet.
This definitely looks like one of the must-owns of 2016.
