With
Windows Phone 8 set to debut soon, everyone’s chomping at the bit to figure out which manufacturers will debut what devices running the new version of the mobile OS. In addition to the no-brainer rumor that
Nokia has (or is building) Windows 8 phones and that at least one will be available on Verizon (not shocking, but noteworthy), we have a source that confirms that both
Samsung and
HTC have new Windows phones coming, as well.
In fact, our source has both devices in hand already. Although we don’t have much to share in the way of specs or model numbers, apparently the Samsung phone looks an awful lot like the Samsung Galaxy ACE, sans the hardware button on the front. The ACE has a 3.5-inch display, 800MHz Snapdragon processor, 5MP camera with flash, and has Samsung Apps on board, so it’s reasonable to think that the new Windows Phone 8 version will be similarly appointed--though hopefully, possibly, updated somewhat.

There’s no model number for the HTC phone either, but the word is that it’s similar to the HTC Rezound, only slimmer. The Rezound has more impressive specs, including a 4.3-inch display, 1.5GHz Qualcomm chip, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 16GB of onboard memory, front (2MP)- and rear (8MP)-facing cameras, and Beats Audio; it’s reasonable to assume that the Windows Phone version will likely boast similar specs.

We’ll keep you updated if and when more details on these new devices comes our way.
