Sony PlayStation 4 To Support Voice Control And Facial Recognition
A Sony Entertainment spokesperson told Polygon, "Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm that PlayStation Camera allows for voice recognition and we will look forward to sharing more details in the lead up to the launch of PlayStation 4 on November 29."
The camera is listed on Amazon for $59.96, and the description says that the it will include functions “from navigational commands to facial recognition”, and it will work hand-in-hand with the DualShock 4 controller’s light bar to “precisely track a player's position in the room” with 3D-sensing technology and stereoscopic lenses.
YouTube user lex1020 posted a video of a Sony presentation at Gamestop Expo 2013 wherein the presenter drops some details about the camera (at about the 5:30 mark). Skip to approximately 6:00 to see a demo of the camera’s capabilities.
The PlayStation 4 will land in the U.S.and Canada on November 15th and Europe and Latin America on November 29th.
