Samsung has gone completely gaga for curved screens. Last year, the company introduced the Galaxy Round smartphone, and this year broke out the innovative Galaxy Note Edge, which features a curved display on the right-hand side of the device. And let’s not forget about the company’s growing lineup of curved PC displays and televisions.
Now Samsung is branching out even further with the introduction of the ATIV One 7 Curved all-in-one PC. The focal point of the PC is of course the 27” curved display, which features what Samsung calls a “metallic deco frame” and metallic stand. Despite the slight curve of the display, Samsung says that viewing angles are a respectable 178 degrees.
“The arched display of the ATIV One 7, along with top-of-the-line multimedia capabilities for rich sound and easy content sharing across devices, make this model stand out from the rest as the ultimate entertainment desktop,” said Gary Riding, Marketing VP for Samsung Electronics America. “With the ATIV One 7 Curved, Samsung has created a PC that exceeds consumers’ needs, while offering a stunning design that stands out in any home or small office.”
However, once you get past the novelty of the curved display, the specs of the ATIV One 7 Curved are pretty much run of the mill. You won’t find 4K resolutions here (and definitely not 5K, as seen on the $2,500 27” Apple iMac with Retina Display); the ATIV One 7 Curved is strictly a Full HD (1080p) device.
Processing duties are handled by an Intel Core i5 that is paired with 8GB of RAM. And don’t bother looking for discrete graphics, as you won’t find it here. Instead, you’re presented with Intel HD Graphics 5500. Storage duties are handled by a 1TB 5400rpm HDD, and there is no mention of an optional SSD upgrade. Other features include a 1080p webcam, two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, a 3-in-1 media reader, and a pair of 10W speakers.
Samsung plans to launch the ATIV One 7 Curved during Q1 of 2015 and it will be priced at $1,299.
