PS4 DualShock 4 Controller Gains Two New Buttons With This Official Sony Attachment
The accessory is called the Back Button Attachment, and it adds to more programmable buttons to the -- you guessed it -- back of the DualShock 4 controller. The Back Button Attachment plugs into the bottom of the controller and provides a passthrough for the 3.5mm headphone jack.
The actual buttons are more like paddles, and you have the ability to remap them on-the-fly to suit whichever game you're currently playing. Sony even allows you to store button profiles for up to three games with the device. Not to be left out, Sony has also incorporated an OLED display that provides you an instantaneous readout of current button assignments (up to 16 functions can be assigned).

Sony says that the DualShock 4 Back Button Attachment will be available on January 23rd priced at $29.99. While all of the attention seems to be focused on the upcoming PlayStation 5 these days, it's nice to see that Sony isn't done adding functionality to its current-generation console.

The PlayStation 5 will be powered by an AMD Zen 2-based Ryzen CPU, Radeon RDNA graphics, and a PCIe NVMe SSD. The PlayStation 5 will also introduce a DualShock 5 wireless controller with adaptive triggers and haptic feedback in place of rumble functionality.
