Nvidia's G80 Requires 450W+

You need to give power to get power, as DailyTech has learned about Nvidia's G80 GPU. While most expected some hefty power requirements for Nvidia's next high-end cards, the actual requirements weren't exactly clear. DailyTech is reporting that a single GeForce 8800GTX will need a hefty 450W PSU, while the GeForce 8800GT will need a 400W PSU. If you're in the market for an SLI setup, you'll be needing at least 800W, as Nvidia supposedly recommends but of course we can neither confirm or deny this...

"The marketing material included with the card claims NVIDIA requires at least a 450W power supply for a single GeForce 8800GTX, and 400W for the 8800GTS. Top tier vendors in Taiwan have already confirmed with DailyTech that GeForce 8800 cards in SLI mode will likely carry a power supply "recommendation" of 800W. NVIDIA's GeForce 7950GX2, currently the company's top performing video card, carries a recommendation of 400W to run the card in single-card mode."

Feel free to kick this one around in our forum with others...
