Nokia Slashes Lumia 900 Price in Half. Now Sells for $50 on AT&T
The path to Microsoft's Windows 7.8 platform just got a little bit cheaper and is paved with a price cut. That's because Nokia on Sunday announced that it cut the price of its Lumia 900 smartphone in half, which is now selling for just $50 at AT&T in the U.S., with a two-year service agreement, of course.
"This announcement comes just in time for the debut of the elegant Pink Lumia 900 and the start of back-to-school shopping for student smartphones," Nokia said.
It also comes as word got out that Windows 7.8 represents the last OS hurrah for the Lumia 900, which doesn't have the horsepower to run Windows 8 and therefore won't be receiving an update to Microsoft's latest and greatest platform. The same holds true for all current Windows 7 devices.
If you're okay with that, the Lumia 900 is otherwise a solid and inexpensive device to get your Windows Phone fix. It has a 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED screen, 1.4GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 8MP rear-facing camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual-LED flash, 4G LTE radio, and an ultra-cheap price tag.
