Nokia Announces Lumia 620 Affordable Windows Phone 8 Smartphone

Nokia on Tuesday added to its Windows Phone lineup by launching the Lumia 620, the third and most affordable device in its range of Windows Phone 8 smartphones. It slides underneath the top-end Lumia 920 (see our review) and mid-range Lumia 820, but unlike those other two, Nokia's entry-level WP8 device aims to offer a "more fun, youthful appeal and compact design."

The Lumia 620 features a new dual-shot color technique for a variety of colors and texture effects. It consists of a second layer of color, transparent, or translucent polycarbonate on top of a base layer, which Nokia says produces secondary color blends and depth effects.

Aesthetics aside, the Lumia 620 boasts a 3.8-inch display (800x480), dual-core 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage + 7GB of free Microsoft SkyDrive storage, a microSD card slot with support for up to 64GB, 5MP rear-facing camera with autofocus and LED flash, front-facing VGA camera, NFC support, and a 1300 mAh battery.

Nokia will begin selling the Lumia 620 for $249 in Janauary 2013, followed closely by Europe and the Middle East before expanding into other markets.
