MSI Releases GT70 and GT60 Gaming Notebooks
MSI is busting out some spec-heavy gaming notebooks with the GT70 and GT60 series. The notebooks pair the Intel HM77 chipset and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M graphics and rely on an Intel Core i7-3610QM (2.3-3.3GHz) processor for most of the systems’ horsepower.
The systems also feature Killer E2200 Game Networking Gigabit LAN, Steel Series full-color backlit programmable keyboard, speakers with a subwoofer and THX Surround Sound, WiFi, card reader, HDMI 1.4a, and a 720p HD webcam (nice!).
The 15.6-inch (1920x1080) GT60 also boasts 12GB of DDR3 RAM, a 1TB (2 x 500GB) RAID setup, a trio of USB 3.0 ports, and a USB 2.0 port. Like some of the GT70s, the GT60 has a DVD Super Multi drive, and it starts at $1499.99.
There are four GT70 editions available (all with 17-inch screens), which are differentiated from one another primarily by their storage configurations. The least expensive GT70 has a 750GB (7200RPM) drive, with the rest all have an SSD + HDD setup. The highest-end GT70 has a pair of RAIDed 64GB SSDs with a 7200RPM 750GB drive for storage; it also has 16GB of DDR3 RAM instead of 12GB, has a Blu-ray burner, and starts at $1999.99.
The other three GT70s start at $1549.99, $1699.99, and $1849.99, and all the new notebooks come with a 2-year limited MSI warranty.
